Report: Jennifer Hudson Becomes ‘American Idol’ Judge

Jennifer Hudson has signed onto serve as a judge on ‘American Idol’s 13th season. That is- according to E! News.

According to the publication, the ‘Spotlight‘ beauty has inked a deal with the show’s producer to return to the show as a judge- after rising to fame as a contestant on its third season.

They report:

“Multiple sources confirm exclusively to E! News that the Oscar-winning singer has signed a deal to sit at the judges’ table this fall for season 13. The other two spots are also intended for former Idol contestants:Kelly Clarkson and either Adam Lambertor Clay Aiken.

We’re told that Clarkson is also close to signing on. No word yet on whether Lambert or Aiken will fill the final spot, but producers are expected to keep the panel to three members.”

With ‘Idol’s audience already familiar (and in love) with Hudson, we hope this report is true. For, with reports also indicating she is hard at work on her third studio album, the show’s platform is just the tool she needs to force feed her material to the masses.

Sure, while we doubt the sound she served on album #2 would have fared any better commercially with ‘Idol’ behind it, Hudson could easily reap Adam Levine esque rewards if her role on the show is supported by wide reaching Adult Contemporary material designed for Middle America.
