R&B Prince Elijah Blake has great cause to celebrate today.
For, less than one week after being released to iTunes USA, he has seen his debut single ‘XOX’ storm the charts…securing a Top 20 peak position of on the tally’s main chart!.
Details below…
Earlier today, fans of the ‘Runnin’ Blind’ entertainer would have noticed that ‘XOX’ had made its way to #12 on iTunes USA’s official chart, no doubt spearheaded by the spike it has enjoyed in sales and streams in the last few days.
Forced to the favorable spot by the performer’s ever growing fan base, the song’s #12 peak also came courtesy of the heavy rotation its video is currently receiving on Van Toffler‘s MTV, and 204,000 YouTube streams generated in the last seven days.
As it stands, the cut holds court at #33 on iTunea R&B- impressive…considering the number is yet to enjoy the full power of Top 40 radio- set to score an even higher peak position once it does.
With the likes of ‘Stay’ and ‘Suit & Tie‘ putting the first nail in EDM’s coffin, ‘XOX’s ascent not only attests to the casual listener’s fresh desire for ‘richer sounds’, and Def Jam‘s habit of carving immaculate roll out campaigns.
Think Rihanna.
Think Frank Ocean.
Think Elijah.
By all estimations, the latter is fast becoming his genre’s hottest commodity and with his debut album set to hit chart shores in the coming months, we hope its sales are indicative of this.
