He doesn’t get enough credit for it, but Trey Songz is one of the few R&B entertainers who can be sure to pull in decent numbers come release week.
While not enough is mould the hype behind those numbers into a Gold plaque, the charismatic performer is far more impressive on a sonic and commercial tip than most would say he is.
Only right then, that he turns up the heat on his forthcoming album with an interview which saw him discuss the possibility of a duet with ‘Should Be You’ singer Ne-Yo.
Footage below…
Taking his numerous Platinum/Triple Platinum single feats into account, one wonders why there’s been real effort made to turn Trey Songz into an internationally renown act.
For, with star power that drew millions into movie theatres back in January and a voice that’s seen his credibility remain in tact, there’s no reason he couldn’t replicate the success Usher enjoyed circa ’05 if the machine behind him beefed up.
Think about it…how many R&B singers can boast sales of 3 million units sold on a single in today’s climate.
The way we see it, Songz has the potential to give many a Pop Prince a run for his money, if his aesthetic, crossover sound and general appeal are worked to its full potential with album #6.
Here’s hoping that happens!
