The downward spiral that has become Lil Kim‘s career sunk to new lows tonight after femcee dramatically axed her own set at London’s Lovebox festival 30 minutes into what should have been her show.
Full story below…
Held at London’s Victoria Park, the three day event (which has become a staple on the British music calendar since launching in 2002) saw Azealia Banks headline yesterday. Yet, for most, much of the anticipation for this year’s show had been built around Kim’s Sunday performance.
Unfortunately, just minutes before her set was scheduled to launch, a report that she had pulled out of the performance spread across the park, soon finding its way to Twitter:
Tragic.
According to reports, the Rapper cancelled her gig after arriving at the venue late with an entourage of allegedly high handlers and refused to perform upon laying eyes on the stage.
Lovebox organisers confirmed the axing of Kim’s set, writing:
Lil Kim did not turn up to her set on time.

The most unfortunate part about this entire mess, is that Kim missed out on the opportunity to showcase her skill to an audience whose perception of her remained untainted..until now.
For, while her lengthy hiatus and ill advised career moves have seen booking US festival dates near impossible, her ‘Lovebox’ gig would have seen her win on all fronts….considering her ever impressive live work and the fact British audiences are far more forgiving, or oblivious to the mess she’s made of herself of late.
It seems, that despite the support her fan base have armed her with, Jones’ heart simply isn’t in it anymore.
A shame, considering this performance would have gone a long way to encourage US organisers hand her the slots she’ll need to promote her long awaited (and elusive) new album.
