When the likes of Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Usher are taken out of the equation, R&B has oft struggled to find its footing in today’s terrain, struggling to match feats nabbed by its Pop adversaries.
Now, thanks to a number or radio programmers and label execs who’ve made it their mission to pour the genre’s best back into the mainstream, the last two years have seen a revival of the field….led by none other than ‘Let’s Just Be‘ sensation Miguel.

Last week, fans of HBO’s ‘True Blood’ found themselves introduced to the star’s radio smash ‘Adorn‘ via the scene above, starring Ryan Kwanten and former ‘Eastenders’ staple Rob Kazinsky.
So popular was the last episode, days later saw the series celebrate its second highest peak of this season, drawing in audiences of 4.14 million and a Adults rating share of 2.3.
Outperforming episode 2 and 3, the Miguel assisted episode came in the fifth highest viewed show on US television- marking its first Top 5 spot since its season debut came in at #4 on June 16th.
More importantly, in response to ‘Adorn‘s spin on the record breaking episode, users on the social networking site Twitter tweeted the words ‘Miguel’, ‘Adorn’ and ‘True Blood’ every thirty seconds during its airing, sending the song and its Grammy winning performer even further into the ‘mainstream’s awareness.
…and it doesn’t end there.
Helped by the surge in interest in his music, the placement saw his ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ jam ‘How Many Drinks’ spends its 24th week at #24 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart, while pushing the cut to #11 on the Streaming Songs tally.
In adding to his chart glory, sales of his aforementioned ‘Dream’ saw him spend his spend his 26th week on the R&B Albums Chart, holding tight at #8 as YouTube views for ‘Adorn‘ surpassed the 27 million mark…now sitting pretty at the 27,550,614 mark.
