Speaking to Mashable, the network explained that the idea ‘gives the VMAs the distinction as the first award show to ever announce nominations via these social media video platforms’, announcing every nominee in the hours that follow the first announcement as part of their #RoadToTheVMAs campaign.
Boasting 1.37 million followers on Instagram and 117,000 pals on ‘Vine’, the network will air this year’s show live from NYC’s Barclay’s Center on August 25th, and- if reports are to believed- may welcome the likes of Rihanna & R&B Royal Ciara to the event.
Ladies, who have both have enjoyed respective wins on the Billboard Hot 100 and video streaming front since last year’s star studded show at Anschutz‘ ‘Staples Center’.
