Last week, Will.i.am saw his quiet attempt to file a lawsuit against Pharrell Williams foiled when US press uncovered the suit, and subsequently reported it to the world at large.
Unfortunately, despite trying to deny the suit ever existed, Will.i.am has now found himself scoring a taste of his own medicine…now the ‘Mr.Me Too’ star has filed a lawsuit against him.
Full story below…
According to BBC Newsbeat, this week saw Pharrell take legal action against Will- asking a US court to rule that his ‘I Am Other’ venture does not infringe upon the ‘I am‘ trademark reportedly owned by the ‘Don’t Phunk With My Heart’ producer.
In this claim, Williams allegedly exposes the producer to be a liar, claiming the ‘Black Eyed Peas’ frontman did send letters to him, demanding he stop using ‘I am’ branding- despite Will’s claim that no such letters existed last week.
Newsbeat explained:
“Pharell’s trademarks do not feature full stops between the I and the am, while will.i.am’s do, says the lawsuit.
Pharrell William’s lawsuit also says that will.i.am’s trademark for “I AM” covers clothing and is “relatively weak” because similar trademarks already exist.”
