Chart Check: Lady GaGa’s ‘Bad Romance’ Certified Diamond / Elijah Blake Sparks Streaming Frenzy

Published: Monday 5th Aug 2013 by David

Consider yourself a Lady GaGa naysayer?

If so, now might be a good time to look away…and fast.

For, just two weeks removed from the release of her brand new single ‘Applause‘, the Pop mastermind has welcomed news that her smash hit single ‘Bad Romance‘ has been certified Platinum….ten times.

Good news after the jump!

Thanks to the new rules that see Streams count towards the overall sale of a release, the Red One produced classic has now been certified Diamond in the US, nabbing the certification four years after its October 26th release.

Marking excellent news for the devoted philanthropist, ‘Romance’s continued glory comes after it was certified 7x Platinum in Canada and 4x Platinum in Australia for sales of over 280,000 units!

More than anything, these numbers go a long way to prove that GaGa stands tall as one of the industry’s only ‘mega-sellers’, following talk the success of Adele and Taylor Swift had dwarfed her own.

Indeed, as the momentum for her new LP ‘ARTPOP’ and her continued sales run proves, that sentiment is quite simply fiction…spewed by those unable to deal with the star’s chokehold on the industry….and her far less gifted contemporaries.

In other streaming news, Hip Hop freshman Elijah Blake continues to see online interest in his work rocket, sparked by the release of his J.Cole backed release, ‘Vendetta‘….and his ‘unique’ rendition of Rihanna‘s #1 single ‘Diamonds’.

Since the above was uploaded a week ago, the ‘Climax’ writer has seen YouTube/Soundcloud streams of ‘Vendetta’ hit the 2.5 million mark, while streams on his debut single ‘XOX‘ speed past the 1.1 million milestone.

It’s this digital interest, many hope, will see the Dominican vocalist’s debut album fare just as well on the Billboard 200 upon release, sure to benefit from cuts co-written and produced by NO I.D and his forthcoming collaboration with U2‘s Bono and ‘College DropoutKanye West.
