Report: Rihanna Teases New Music During ‘Alan Carr’ Taping / Hits The Studio With Elijah Blake

Published: Wednesday 11th Sep 2013 by David

If you were wondering why Rihanna‘s video for the single ‘Pour It Up’ continues to gather dust on ‘Unapologetic’s top shelf, you may be pleased to learn that their may be a reasonable explanation for it.

The kind of explanation, that sings to the tune of brand new music this year!

Good news below…

After her ‘No Love Allowed’ collaborator Elijah Blake revealed ‘she was starting up again’ here, the star arrived in London to launch her latest fashion endeavour and tape an appearance for the ‘Alan Carr: Chatty Man‘ talk show.

Currently being filmed, members of the audience took to Twitter to reveal that the performer is indeed working on new music, teasing a winter release!

Prompting talk of an ‘Unapologetic‘ re-release, her time on the show saw her perform the song ‘What Now‘, one year after recording it for the #1 album, which has only spawned two videos to date.

This, despite seeing its album cut ‘Love Song’ reach sales of 500,000 units and ‘Pour It Up‘ pops its way past the 1 million point during the summer.

With Lady GaGa‘s ‘ARTPOP’ set to dominate charts for weeks after its release, it’ll be interesting to see how a new Rihanna album or re-release would fare when forced to compete with acts that weren’t around upon ‘Unapologetic‘s take off.

What we’re most interested in though, is how Riri’s next era will play out on a creative front.

For, whatever one thinks about her consistency as a vocalist, Brand Rihanna is now at a point at which she can afford to take ‘risks’ and see the automatic support she’ll garner from radio guarantee they’ll pay off.

What we’re driving at?

Well, with EDM on its way out, it’d be great to see Rihanna jump on the R&B train to give her a clear cut point of difference when the inevitable comparisons to Katy, Britney and GaGa swing by.

Think about it. If ‘Love Song’ now sits pretty at Gold and ‘Pour It Up’ at Platinum without music video or a single televised performance, one can only imagine what she’d do for the genre- and her own critical standing- if she gave cuts akin to the ones placed below the push afforded to ‘Diamonds‘ and ‘Stay’!

…it’s not R&B, but…

So, let us know…

Are you looking forward to new Rihanna music?
