After facing a $5 million lawsuit sent his way by a 22 year old who claimed she had been sexually abused by he and his entourage, Pop singer Sean Kingston has opted to avoid a trial by settling out court.
Full story below…
Settled three years after the alleged incident- which is explained in full here– took place, the case’s allegations saw Sean maintain his innocence and acknowledge that while he did have consensual sex with the then 19 year old, he- nor his camp- were guilty of rape.
Unfortunately for him, despite the lawsuit set to be shortly dismissed and members of his team informing TMZ that his supposed victim was only paid a fraction of the amount she requested, the University of Western Ontario stand as one of many who aren’t as convinced by the performer as he’d like them to be.
For, after enlisting him to perform at the University as part of their Orientation Week on September 7th, they have now cut ties with him- explaining:
“Having Mr. Kingston perform could cloud the values surrounding O-Week. The University of Western Ontario has zero tolerance for sexual assault.”
It should be noted that Kingston’s settlement is not an admission of guilt, and has cited the time he needs to complete and launch a new album and a new tour as his grounds for avoiding the November trial, despite members of his camp informing ‘TMZ’ that he believed he would have won the case if he had been forced to prove his innocence in court.
