Guess who’s back?
Indeed, ‘Oops I Did It Again’ songstress Britney Spears is at it again as unveiled by tonight’s announcement that her new single ‘Work Bitch’ will find its way to digital outlets next week.
But, will it work Spears’ name back to the top of charts? You tell us…
Greeted by fan frenzy upon its announcement via the singer’s Twitter hours ago, the tune’s accompanying music video – as previously reported – was helmed by ‘Scream & Shout’ director Ben Mor and has already been shot.
Only bringing to boil the already overflowing anticipation for the song’s premiere, the announcement quickly spurred murmurs of Britney versus the sea of pop competition she will be faced with this quarter.
First, there’s Lady Gaga.
Fans may recall in 2011 when the ‘Applause’ hitmaker shattered Spears’ Itunes sales record with her hit ‘Born This Way’. Boasting a massive 448k sold in a mere matter of days, the single bested Britney’s ‘Hold It Against Me’ (411k) and later Katy Perry‘s ‘Part of Me’ (411k) for most downloads in first week of release (at the time).
2013, on the other hand, is certainly singing a different tune…
For, this year saw Perry claw her name into record books when her song ‘Roar’ sold over 500k in its release week and instantly placed her at a distant first place from her former top competition (but third overall to Taylor Swift and Flo Rida).
..and then there’s Miley Cyrus. The ‘We Can’t Stop‘ singer may have stopped a few hearts today when she confirmed a duet with Spears for her forthcoming album ‘Bangerz’. The southern Belles unmask their forthcoming collab just hours after it was reported that Cyrus’s latest venture ‘Wrecking Ball’ has rolled right into “Vevo History” by claiming the “most views clocked in a 24 hours”.
The likes of 19 million pressed play on the visual during its first 24 hours of release. That number, as of time reporting, has nearly doubled…
Will Britney survive in this sea of competition?
