Bruno Mars may have been enlisted to perform at this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, but thanks to the folks over at ‘Time Warner‘, he isn’t the only chart-topper looking forward to partaking in the night’s festivities.
For, after announcing him as their headlining act for their pre-game party in NYC, ‘Warner’ has called on Drake to star in the company’s Super Bowl 2014 commercial, making him the ‘leading lad’ in their hotly anticipated campaign!
Details below…
Securing the exclusive weeks before it takes place, Billboard reveal:
“Following recent ad buys starring Ricky Gervais in 2012 and a spot with “The Walking Dead”’s Norman Reedus in 2013, Time Warner Cable will feature Drake as the star of its 2014 Super Bowl campaign.
Jeffrey Hirsch, Time Warner Cable’s exec VP and chief sales and marketing officer, declined to share creative details of the Drake spot, but says of working with Drake, “He’s not just a phenomenal performer, but a phenomenal actor. I got to watch him at the shoot, and he can really act. He’s gonna be even bigger for many years to come.”
Set to see him enter the homes of the millions on course to tune in on the night, Drake‘s arrangement with ‘Warner‘ comes after he partnered with ‘Jordan Brand’ to launch his very own shoe line with the organisation, tightening the hold he has over male audiences and pushing sales of his new LP ‘Nothing Was the Same’ in tandem.
Since its September 24th 2013 release, the project has sold a sweet 1,344,000 units in the US alone, earning a Platinum certification there and ‘Gold’ glory in the UK for sales of over 100,000 copies.
