Every celebrity has the right to defend themselves if they feel attacked. Ashanti, like many other artists, take their art (music, acting, painting, etc) personally and treat it as if you were talking about their looks because it IS them. So this “she shouldnt have made it personal” excuse, is just that, an excuse because it is personal.

To be completely honest, there is a time and place for every artist.
Not everyone will have long lasting careers like Madonna for instance and when artist peak too early, it becomes extremely hard to outdo themselves.

But if there is still demand for your kind of music, please by all means keep making music regardless of opinions-which people will offer giving less consideration to the sensitivities of the artist!
