In the world of music, few names rival the individual star-power of Beyonce and Madonna. It’s a memo the producers of the Grammy Awards 2014 seem well-acquainted with; for, it is being reported that next week’s extravaganza will see both Pop queens take to the stage.
Details after the jump…
According to the LA Times, the megastars have been tapped to feature in two of many “surprise moments” during the industry’s biggest calendar night on January 26th.
Her Madegesty is believed to serve as a guest during a performances of one of the night’s previously announced performers. Bey, however, is gearing up for a major solo moment.
Last month saw the 32-year-old achieve what many had deemed the impossible – the stealth release of her 5th studio album. Should the report prove true, it suggests she’s taking a similar approach to the first live performance in support of the mega-selling visual LP.
Longtime Grammy Awards show producer Ken Ehrlich spoke to the publication’s Pop & Hiss column saying he “can’t confirm” either lady’s involvement. However, he cryptically added (re Bey):
“Let’s put it this way … we have a really great history that goes back to the early days of Destiny’s Child. I love working with [Beyonce]. She’s incredible. She is so into what it is that she does and making sure that everybody who sees her walks away saying, ‘wow.’
Should she be on the show this year? I would think that the potential is there for that kind of moment.”
Current names set to take to the stage include Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr; Daft Punk with Nile Rodgers, Pharrell Williams and Stevie Wonder; Kendrick Lamar with Imagine Dragons; Lorde; Katy Perry; Pink and Fun’s Nate Ruess; Robin Thicke and Chicago; Macklemore & Ryan Lewis; Kacey Musgraves; John Legend; Taylor Swift; Keith Urban and Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and Blake Shelton.
