Lady GaGa may be one of the world’s highest selling entertainers, but it seems not even her star power was enough to win over the folks over at ‘SXSW.’
Why the event’s organisers refused to let her perform at this year’s show?

Upon learning of her request to rock the annual show, the city of Austin, Texas refused to sign the necessary permits that would have allowed the performance to go ahead, citing ‘safety concerns’ as their cause for not doing so.
Indeed, after hoping to perform at the festival’s outdoor ‘Dorito‘s stage, GaGa’s popularity served to thwart her plans, with the city fearing her star power would pull in an audience the venue would be unable to handle.
In a statement released this week, Don Pitts, manager of the City of Austin Music & Entertainment division, explained:
“Our conclusion was based primarily on public safety concerns. We look at the size and capacity of the location covered by the permit being sought and how it fits with the anticipated attendance, based on event capacity and promotion. At the end of the day, it’s a parking lot.”
