Music lovers are still gagging for Gaga and her latest cinematic music video ‘G.U.Y.’
The latest single lifted from her not-so-well received album ‘ARTPOP’, the song and its accompanying visual – not even 24 hours since its premiere – are being received as a long-awaited return to ‘The Fame’ form for the Grammy-winner (i.e. catchy pop, eye-popping high fashion, killer dance moves, and the absence of a socially conscious message).
With news of its premiere in sight, the diva’s faithful fan group began a bid to push the tune to the top of VEVO’s digital history books by encouraging viewers to repeatedly watch the video to ensure it lands as the digital music channel’s “most watched video in a 24 hour period”.
Do you think their petition will succeed?
To accomplish such a feat, Gaga’s video will have to amass a whopping 19.4 million views in the short span of 24 hours as the title’s current holder – Miley Cyrus – shattered viewership records with her 2013 #1 hit ‘Wrecking Ball’.
Swinging right past…umm…herself and previous record-holder ‘We Can’t Stop’, Cyrus’ clocked 19.3 million views at the 24 hour mark after ‘Ball’s drop. A mere five days later, the video sat at 100 million views and was crowned the first and only video to amass 100 million views in less than a week.
As VEVO’s updating is serially delayed, fans are still hoping that ‘G.U.Y.’ – sitting at 4 million views as of time reporting – will at least match Miley’s numbers.
Premiering on a weekend doesn’t exactly help its chances, but you tell us:
