Are Mr & Mrs. Carter heading out on tour together?
According new reports, Beyonce and Jay-Z are indeed set to hit the road this Summer for a major US trek.
Details after the jump..
Page Six reports that the power couple are on the brink of announcing a Summer stadium run – one that will see them play to 20 mega-venues across North America.
While firm dates have yet to be announced, the jaunt (which has been the subject of speculation for several months) will “reportedly” set sail in June and “could” see the Carter’s rock their home state of New York on Independence Day (July 4th).
Blue Ivy’s parents recently wrapped individual tours in support of their latest albums; Jigga closed out 52 dates for his ‘Magna Carta…Holy Grail’ in January, while King B’s ‘Mrs. Carter Show’ wrapped in March.
Interestingly, the latter – though having hit America already – hasn’t yet done so in support of Bey’s self-titled album. Indeed, it was the the last European leg of the trek alone that saw songs from the “surprise” LP given the live treatment. A fact which, perhaps, suggests there could be truth embedded suggestion of a joint US tour.
In any case, time will tell.
That said, while we initially had reservations (see: both acts are big enough to go it alone), conceptually it could be amazing.
It’s a given it’ll be the hottest ticket in town; yet from a musical standpoint, Bey and Jay don’t just have songs together…they have hits. ‘Crazy In Love’, ‘Drunk In Love’, ‘Upgrade U’, ‘On The Run’, not to mention their own catalogue of classics. If pieced together in the right way, the results could be great.
Enough of our rambling, though. We want to know:
