After surprising the world with the release in the December of last year, Beyonce‘s self-titled fifth LP enjoyed album sales that have seen her shift more in six months than a number of her contemporaries have in two years, outperforming the likes of Rihanna‘s ‘Unapologetic’, Usher‘s ‘Looking 4 Myself’ and Lady GaGa‘s 2013 release ‘ARTPOP.’
However, while its bold sound guaranteed the star critical acclaim, she wasn’t promised the success of its supporting singles, with music lovers unlikely to pick them up separately after purchasing them as part of the album.
Fortunately for her, they did and have now taken its latest single ‘Partition’ to Gold!
Released as a single on February 25th 2014, ‘Partition‘ rolls up to the Gold milestone in style, after moving 500,000 units in the US alone, supported by its Jay Z– backed music video and the hype surrounding its parent album, which moved 1.3 million units after seventeen days of release.
‘Partition’s success comes eleven years after the launch of the star’s solo career, fronted by her debut album ‘Dangerously in Love’, which now stands less than 500,000 units shy of the 12 million units sold worldwide mark.
