Agreed. That is a fair analysis. In fact, I think for one of Britney’s tour when she went to Australia they put a disclaimer on the tickets warning people she would lip synch. I think other artists should do that as well if they are going to be lip synching most of the show.
She rarely, if ever, lipped when she made that statement though… When her voice reached critical status in 2000 is when lipping was absolutely necessary.
Besides you make it sound like Mariah goes on these extended tours. Her tours are extremely limited, and she is every open about her dislike of touring.

If singers lip synch because of a TV performance, particular songs(that involve intense choreography), or if they are sick but are forced to perform, (etc.) than they should definitely get a pass for lip synching. I don’t get the shade about lip singing. They’ve been doing it since they started televising artists. Music videos, concerts, and etc are all lip singing. MTV always dubs/ adds loud backtracks to live vocals. Are we also going to pretend that reverb and effects aren’tadded those people microphones? Lip singing is not really anything to call out, because EVERY artist has done it at least three times in a concert… even while just standing there “singing” a ballad. People need to understand that if you’re blowing songs like Hsro, I’m Every Woman, & My Heart Will Go On, that it is extremely hard on your voice and damaging and that entertaining with songs like If, My Hips Don’t Lie, Vogue, Dangerous, Yeah! , Wiggle, Look at Me Now, and etc are going to be lipped. It is what it is. Get over it. I’ve been to a Beyoncé, Mariah, MJ, Tina, Prince, Patti, Whitney, Sade, Black Eyed Peas, Monica, and Justin Timberlake, And Xtinq shows. Only Patti and Tina didn’t lip. Most used backtracks and prerecorded transitions were plenty.
