Finally.
Beyonce‘s promotional campaign for her blockbuster new album is gathering steam…again.
In recent months, many have vented about the tour-focal approach the singer has taken to pushing the Double Platinum LP – which arrived in a surprise capacity last December. After all, with minimal traditional promo, the visual album continued to bulldoze the competition for months on end – almost creating no “need” for exhaustive plugging.
Still, in news that will no doubt delight the singer’s ever-buzzing BeyHive, HBO have announced an innovative set of live performances from King B herself.
The Cable network wrote on Twitter:
.@Beyonce returns to HBO for #BeyonceX10, a 10-episode series of concert performances debuting weekly before @TrueBloodHBO starting June 29.
— HBO (@HBO) June 19, 2014
And while HBO simply posted on social media, The Hollywood Reporter elaborates:
Following her 2013 documentary Life Is But a Dream, Beyonce will return to the premium network for a series of four-minute concert segments from her Mrs. Carter World Tour called Beyonce: X10.
The 10 installments will air every Sunday evening at 8:55 p.m. ET/PT ahead of the seventh and final season of True Blood, which begins at 9 p.m. ET/PT on June 22.
Taped performances of “Blow/Cherry,” “Drunk in Love,” “Ghost/Haunted,” “Flawless/Yonce,” “Get Me Bodied/Baby Boy/Diva,” “Girls,” “Heaven,” “Partition,” “Why Don’t You Love Me?” and “XO” will air as part of the series.
The performances were shot in various cities around the world from Beyonce’s Mrs. Carter World Tour. The tour began in April 2013 in Belgrade, Serbia and ended in March 2014 in Lisbon, Portugal. It was the highest-grossing female solo tour in 2013.
Yes, yes, and yes! Beyond ten consecutive weeks of new Beyonce performances, the fact it’s being placed alongside one of HBO’s most popular shows bodes incredibly well for visibility.
Hopefully this is the start of a fresh push – be it left-field like this or traditional.
