Watch: Nicki Minaj’s ‘2014 BET Awards’ ‘Best Female Hip Hop Award’ Acceptance Speech

While fans of ‘Fancy’ rapper Iggy Azalea had expected her to pick up the award yesterday evening, last night saw rival Nicki Minaj dash her dreams of being named the ‘BET Awards’Best Female Hip Hop Artist’ when she nabbed the gong for the fifth consecutive year.

What happened next? The delivery of an acceptance speech that served to shock the show’s audience which saw Minaj claim she feared would she die last week and take “subtle” aim at female rappers who employ ghost writers to pen their jams.

Interesting.

While Iggy Azalea should be applauded for her success with ‘Fancy‘, we’re sure we speak for many when we say success with one single isn’t quite enough for her to have deserved the award.

For, if one’s interested in keeping it really real, it’s ‘Fancy’s hook- performed by Charli XCX-which is selling the single, giving ‘BET‘ no choice but to hand the award to the prolific Minaj, who dominated ‘Hip Hop‘ radio with verses placed on a string of Urban smashes…all of which were penned by herself.

This, a fact that would have no doubt influenced the network’s decision when considering which of the Rap belles deserved the award more!
