Cheryl Cole Opens Up About ‘X Factor USA’ Axing

Published: Thursday 3rd Jul 2014 by Sam

Following years of silence, Cheryl Cole is finally speaking up on the axing heard around the world.

As widely reported, the British belle was fired from the judging panel of The X Factor USA just days after filming began for its first season in 2011.

The embarrassment was elevated due the fact that the gig was hyper-hyped as the singer’s long-awaited US “arrival”. Needless to say, her American agenda was halted and Cole returned to the UK with scrambled eggs all over her face.

Now, with new single ‘Crazy Stupid Love’ out and her return to the X Factor UK confirmed, the star seems keen to address the matter – one she’s avoided in earnest prior to now.

Her words below…

Speaking with Elle UK, the Pop stunner revealed that she sent the show’s creator Simon Cowell a text message after her firing that read: “**** you, **** Fox, **** the orange and purple outfit. **** the big hair. **** the UK X Factor. **** you all. I hate you.”

“I can talk about this because I’m okay about it now. But I went through hell and it literally drove me mad. I became so desensitised, you could say terrible things to me and I wouldn’t even think about it.

I’d read awful stuff about myself and not blink. I shut down because I didn’t know what else to do. Now, I can say that Simon was right to get rid of me. I wasn’t well in the head when that was going on, so it wasn’t going to work. But he wasn’t right not to tell me to my face.”

Hmm.

Intriguing to finally hear her take on the matter.

For us, the primary issue lay in the irony of someone whose strongest feat is not singing judging a singing competition — especially in a  region that has produced some of the best singers in the world.

Still, can’t knock Ms. Cole’s hustle. She clearly knows what she’s working with (and what she’s not) and draws on every form of scaffolding to prop up her career (see: X Factor return, booking major performances on Cowell shows, etc). More power to her, ay?

In the meanwhile, check out our recent interview with Cole below. She dishes on her upcoming new album ‘Only Human’.
