Mariah Carey seemingly vanished when her album, ‘Me. I Am…Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse’, did the same on the charts upon its release back in May.
Naturally, the diva’s unexplained absence from the spotlight led many to believe that the plug had been pulled on the disaster campaign. After all, if no one’s buying, then no one’s making money. And if the latter isn’t occurring, then labels won’t spend. Point, blank, period.
However, the singer’s fans needn’t fret. For, according to Mimi, there’s more to come.
Writing on her newly re-designed website, Carey told her Lambs:
I just wanted to thank everyone for always supporting me. You know Me. I Am Mariah… It’s only the beginning! The elusive Chanteuse dahhlings!
I can’t wait to see you when I hit the road, starting very soon and I’m very excited about it! Love ya much, bye bye!” –Mariah
Hmm.
As much as we’ve heard the “it’s not over” spiel from many an artist over the years, we want to do Mariah due diligence and wait to see what she’s “apparently” cooking up.
The possibility of a tour sounds great. Because, given the album’s sales (or lack-there-of), mounting a successful trek – which we’re almost certain will be billed as an “intimate affair” – could help establish at least one positive “face” to this mess of a project.
After all, if Lady GaGa is currently able to fill out arenas after ‘ARTPOP’, there’s no reason why Mariah can’t do the same with theaters…for a “close to the fans” experience (note the PR spin).
There still exists the issue of her unpredictable live vocals (see: one song “on”, next song “off”…and, of course, the incessant lip-syncing). But on paper, at least, her predicament is one that is still “workable” given the magnitude of her name.
Hopefully, her next move is a wise one.
