It’s the album the music industry has been awaiting with bated breath. And while no release date has been set for Missy Elliott‘s much anticipated comeback, it hasn’t quelled excitement for the set – her first since 2005’s ‘The Cookbook’.
Today saw her longtime collaborator Timbaland whip up more buzz in an interview with Rolling Stone.

Excerpt via Rolling Stone:
“It’s coming. It’s on her. She got the first single, it’s just a matter of when she wants to do it. We got the hollow-tip bullet in the gun. We have the game-changer right there,” he says, making the sound of a gun firing.
Asked what that bullet sounds like, Timbaland replied: “It’s something you ain’t never heard Missy do. It sounds today, but the future.”
Exciting times!
Having been teased with ‘9th Inning’ and ‘Triple Threat’ in 2012, things have been relatively quiet on the Missy front sans a few feature spots. At least there’s confirmation that an album is still being baked in the studio. Here’s hoping it’s served up sooner rather than later, as the industry could do with the lofty levels of innovative Elliott brings to the table.

Did anyone support the singles she put out last year, Triple Threat and 9th Inning? They were bangers but did not receive enough support. So stop begging for a Missy album unless you plan to create a street team to promote the album. Everybody doesn’t follow Twitter or Facebook for information. Are you willing to work hard OUTSIDE of social media to help promote the album? If not, Missy is doing the right thing by keeping her heat.
Did SHE support them? All she did was put them out, did two or three open-ended radio interviews that didn’t reveal much about a new album. She didn’t even bother to make videos for them…and videos was always Missy’s claim-to-fame.
People kill me with the “y’all don’t even support…” BS. There’s only so much fans can do. It’s the job of the artist, record label and manager to create enough buzz to the general public interested. They didn’t do that, so the songs went no where.

It went from the pioneers of rap being like “the boys” (MC Lyte, Queen Latifah) to the extra feminine gangster Barbie chicks rocking labels and high fashion (Lil Kim) to missy with her avant guarde crazy style. Man, I hope this album DOES FINALLY DROP before the year’s out!!! I’m a little long time Missy fan (since her very first album in ’97) and, I’ve been waiting a long damn time for a Missy/Timbaland album (she does her BEST work with him – even though I don’t like his ass lol).
