Diddy‘s ‘Revolt‘ invited R&B singer Elijah Blake to its manor earlier this week, calling on the star to share details on his forthcoming EP ‘Drift’ before its release later on this year.
While there, the performer weighed in on his own single ‘6′, detailing his physically abusive childhood and how it affected the man he has become today, now determined to give a voice to the gentlemen of the world.
Nice!
With Drake being to bros what Beyonce is to women, here’s hoping Camp Blake makes a number of moves within the next few months to turn him into R&B’s female friendly but bro-approved boy next door.
For as anyone who’s listened to 2012’s ‘Bijoux 22’ will know, Blake’s themes dig deep into the contemporary male experience in ways many of his more celebrated contemporaries have been unable to without seeming like try-hards.
With this mind, we can’t wait to hear what he dishes up on ‘Drift’ and hope its numbers are closer to the likes of ‘Vicky’s Secret’, ‘Runnin’ Blind’ and Everything’.
Songs, that while aren’t as thought provoking as ‘6’, make for a far more enjoyable listen because of the restraint he shows them, gliding through lyrics and melodies that are accessible to all on a vocal tip!
