It’s official: Jennifer Lopez has a hit on her hands.
The bodacious beauty’s new single ‘Booty (ft. Iggy Azalea)’ has become the singer’s first chart winner from latest LP ‘A.K.A’.
Details below…
Streaming of the track’s accompanying video, which set pulses racing upon release last week, has helped propel the single to #18 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 count. As at writing, its views on VEVO sit at the 35 million mark.
The feat is particularly impressive given that neither the Iggy assisted version or the Pitbull featured original have officially been sent to radio…yet.
What’s more, the song is racing up the iTunes tally following its release yesterday and presently sits at #77.
As such, while a dip is likely next week, its growing buzz on radio and iTunes (together with its still-rising-views) should help it stabilise or better yet rise on the chart in the weeks to come.
**************
Regardless of how it achieved such status, ‘Booty’ is a hit and in being so becomes J.Lo’s first top 20 since 2012’s ‘Dance Again’ (which peaked at #17).
Prior to then, ‘On The Floor’ served as her big career resurgence in 2011 after climaxing at #3 on the Hot 100. The latter was particularly notable because it was the diva’s first top 20 effort since 2005’s ‘Get Right’ (#12). Given the slew of other singles that sit between the aforementioned songs, it’s clear Ms. Lopez isn’t afraid of trying and trying and trying. And for good reason too, because she’s still yielding the results fifteen years into her career.
More power to her!
