It’d be fair to say Universal are rocking ‘Top 40’ radio this week, watching three of their hottest releases become the Most Added cuts on the format!
These, being Nick Jonas‘ ‘Jealous’, Tove Lo’s ‘Habits’ and Nicki Minaj‘s Gold single ‘Anaconda.‘
Now thanks to sales of the latter, the label has seen Minaj set yet another chart record this month, after its ascent to Gold made it the third single from the star to do this year.
What that has to do with anything?
Find out below…
Pills n Potions.
Bang Bang.
Anaconda.
With all three of these singles released between the May and August of 2014, Minaj becomes the first female rapper in chart history to see three singles cross the half a million sales milestone…in less than 12 weeks.
For, after watching ‘Pills n Potions’ skip past the Gold barrier in July, ‘Bang Bang’ in August’ and ‘Anaconda’ in September, Nicki now stands as the first and only femcee cruise past the 500,000 units mark as many times as she has in the time that she has.
Under 12 weeks.
Hopefully indicative of how well her new LP will fare upon release, the last week saw ‘Anaconda’ continue to dart towards the 1 million units sold mark, after moving 130,000 units in seven days.
How much it’s sold in the month since its August 4th unveiling?
630,000 units.
