It’s hard to believe that today marks eight years (yes, eight) since Fergie unleashed her debut solo album ‘The Duchess’ on the masses.
And while we could go down memory lane and reminisce on the countless jams the multi-Platinum set gave birth to, we’d much rather rejoice at the newest news surrounding the Black Eyed Peas front-woman.
For, according to fresh reports, the 39-year-old is gearing up to release new music…and soon.
Details below…
Billboard writes:
Sources tell Billboard that Fergie is indeed working on new music for a sophomore album, as the star alluded to during a stop by Chelsea Lately last month. According to a source, there’s a “good bet” that the album will finally be released in 2015, with a new single possibly dropping before the end of this year.
Billboard has also learned that Mike WiLL Made-It is involved with Fergie’s next full-length. The hip-hop maestro executive-produced Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz album, and has helmed songs by Rihanna, Ciara and 2 Chainz, among many others.
Beyond being excited by the prospect of new Fergie-Ferg material, we’re equally eager to see how she’s able to fit into the musical climate of today. After all, trends and fandom change with the quickness; which begs the question of whether the masses will still be “here” for the singer’s newest numbers.
On the one hand, it’s not only been eight years since she released solo, but has also been several years since the ‘Peas have dropped anything. Yet, on the other, we’re sure many will welcome her back on the merit of the hot fire that was ‘The Duchess’.
Bring it on!
