Much ado was made about Calvin Harris forbidding ex-girlfriend Rita Ora from performing the single he produced for her at the Teen Choice Awards earlier this Summer.
However, in the midst of that melee, it was also quietly confirmed that the rest of the tracks the renown DJ had cooked up for Ora’s hotly anticipated new album wouldn’t be making the project.
And while many have speculated that the said tracks were culled due to Harris’ refusal for them to be placed, 23-year-old Ora has offered a response that doesn’t quite deny those reports – it instead puts a positive spin on the entire episode.
Her words below…
An excerpt from her interview with The Standard newspaper read:
I ask whether Calvin Harris, her writer and producer ex-boyfriend, from whom she recently split, refused to allow her to use certain tracks on her album.
“Obviously the obvious happened,” she explains. “We broke up. But I’ll Never Let You Down was made in such an honest space, even after we went our separate ways. It still represents what I was doing when I created it with him. It was a lovely summer song. It was the first time I’d written something really honest without anybody else’s input. Just his. It felt really liberating. But the songs that we did together didn’t make sense musically with the album because we did them a while ago.”
