i love Mary but this sounds as horrible as truths p**** when the whole hood be running through it

  4. Lindsay Lohan September 22, 2014

Sonically similar to what Amy Winehouse would release had she been alive today, it’s probably the influence on Sam Smith. Nothing fantastic, but it isn’t bad either. It just that it doesn’t fit Mary J. Blige’s brand.

I don’t think it quite fits her voice, but the song itself is actually good. Adele would turn it out.

It’s not good. I want MJB like 97’s ‘Share My World’ TBH. That was her peak IMO. 2005’s ‘The Breakthrough’ was a comeback for her tho.

This is just not my cup of tea!

I like it. Loving how Mary comes OUT OF HER COMFORT zone and tries something, fresh and new for her.

Yea I think people want her to stay in a box but them same ones would complain about her being basic and tires if she kept doing those heartbreak R&B songs.

Queen Mary J. Blige delivered a solid song. There’s nothing she can’t do. She has to be the most diverse vocalist ever.

wow i was expecting something horrid from the comments… It’s a good song. i would have preferred it if sam would have sung it himself though

MJB is actually very intelligent. The idea of the album and etc are perfect. Mary’s prob is that her voice is VERY LIMITED, which is why this song is great, but not with her singing it. She was never versatile like her peers, that’s why her fans abandoned her every time she tried to change her sound. I saw her say on The Breakfast Club saying that people try to keep her in a box… She needs to STAY in that box.

NO THANKS YOU MALM J. BLIGE!

  17. Anne September 23, 2014

Not bad but it has a strong and weak points. Hate the beginning for example. When the music comes in, it takes the focus away from the unflattering way she decided to deliver the vocals. All and all I would say that the song had potential but could have been done better.

I just think her voice only suits the type of music she uses to make. The moment she sings something different it just doesn´t work (although the idea of this concept album is good at this stage of her career imo). For example when she has tried to sing the National Anthem (proving she´s not a vocalist on true greats/divas level like Whitney, mariah, Celine, etc) or when she recorded her Xmas album last year (it just sounded boring and unispired, out of place, compared to Xamas albums by so many other artists, like Mariah or Celine themselves, or even last years Leona Lewis Xamas album was so much better). She needs to stick to her hip hop-R&B-soul style or whatever it´s called and that´s it. Not everybody can be an extraordinary singer or musician who can do it all.

Finally a great song from Mary !!! Not what we’ve heard million times before from her. It was a wise decision to collaborate with rising British stars. Nowadays most of good music comes from the UK. America and American music industry is dead and try to repeat itself always…

Music industries of the UK and Europe are much better lately. 🙂
