Rita Ora and the assembly of stars who make up Band Aid 30 have cause to celebrate tonight.
For their remake of 1984 classic ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ has rocketed to the top spot of the Official UK Singles Chart.
Details below…
Per Official Charts, the Bob Geldof production debuted at #1 on this week’s tally, after selling a gargantuan 312,000 copies.
The incredible feat sees the track, which also features One Direction, Emeli Sande, Ed Sheeran, Bono and more, not only best the opening debut of 2004’s Band 20 version (297k) but also become the fastest selling single of 2014 in the UK.
What’s more, the song – all proceeds from which go towards the Ebola relief effort – is notable in that it has outsold the top five of said chart combined.
With a physical copy due at retail in the weeks ahead, chart domination seems almost guaranteed.
