Beyonce may be taking a laxed approach to promotion these days, but her buzzing BeyHive are proving ever-active in their support for the singer.
The sales forecasts for the ‘Beyonce – Platinum Edition {More}’ EP suggest that Queen B’s reign shows no signs of slowing.
Details below…
The standalone digital release, which fuses the “new” content from the meatier repackage of her visual album (see: two new songs, four remixes, and ten live video performances), is set to land high on next week’s Billboard 200 with sales of 60,000-65,000.
As the set arrives on the first week that the chart will include streams, Hits Daily Double report that this is likely to elevate combined sales + streams to a total of 80,000-90,000. {Editor’s note: per the new rules, 1500 streams of a song from an album will count as 1 “sales” unit to add to the total}
Here’s where things get interesting…
According to insiders, the logistics of the roll-out will uniquely see the ‘More’ EP chart separately from the beefed-up Platinum Edition (the $30 set which is available in physical and digital formats and includes both the original album and new content). Hence the reason why, if one peruses iTunes, they’ll note both “albums” charting separately.
It’s been confirmed that sales of the full re-issue will count towards the original LP’s totals. What remains to be seen is whether the EP’s units will too. It only seems fair that it will, right?
Whatever the case, the figures are yet more testament to Beyonce’s potent pull. She’s essentially selling more first week than most acts this year… and with a digital only EP (the main selling point of which is the inclusion of just two new songs).
Some may argue daylight robbery. We, however, see it as a boss business move. Save the longer list of new music for #B6 and use this as a vehicle to elongate the ‘Beyonce’ campaign and add sales to the already mega-selling project.
