Taylor Swift is riding high atop of the Pop pack these days thanks to the gargantuan success of her new album ‘1989’.
However, her recent comments about the genre’s reigning queen Janet Jackson have us wondering if the 24-year-old is feeling a little too brazen for her own good.
Full story below…
Usually inoffensive (unless dishing on one of her past boyfriends), Swift appeared to break protocol during a newly published interview with Time Magazine.
Speaking on what she wants her legacy to be, the starlet said:
I’m sure there will be things that my grandkids make fun of me for no matter what, but I’d really rather it be, “Look how awkward your dancing was in the ‘Shake It Off’ video! You look so weird, Grandma!” rather than “Grandma, is that your nipple?”
Hmm.
Is it us or does it seem like she’s referring to the now-infamous Superbowl accident which saw Jackson’s nipple exposed in 2004? Or could it be a broader reference to her rivals baring all?
We really hope it’s the latter.
Taylor has successfully sustained by being generally harmless and catering to her core demographic. As such, from where we’re standing, now is not the time, place, nor space to be trying to skew edgy or provocative; especially when discussing or even alluding to legends such as Janet.
Ms. Jackson’s talent, catalogue and success narrative are in another league and operate on a different platform of premium. Hence, we’re gonna need Ms. Swift to keep it all the way cute. Swiftly.
