Call it a comeback? If early signs are any indication, this may very well be the case for Janet Jackson‘s new album campaign.
Following yesterday’s streaming unleashing of new single ‘No Sleeep,’ today brought with it the digital release of the seductive Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis production.
And after perusing the current iTunes tally, it appears as though a potent mix of buzz and critical acclaim may carry the song to chart glory.
Details below…
As at writing, ‘Sleeep’ has rocketed to #20 on the main count of the industry leading retailer; what’s more, it currently sits at #8 on the Pop chart.
With its popularity bars rising and a much touted appearance at the BET Awards set for this Sunday, all signs point to the track climbing even higher.

On many a front, this is an early “win” for the 49-year-old, who hasn’t released a traditional album in over seven years. Beyond being gone from the spotlight for such a marked period of time, the song itself drives at a pace few would have expected as “comeback” track from the dance diva.
Needless to say, it serves as yet more proof that in more ways than one it pays to march to the beat of one’s own drum.
