Ciara earned praise aplenty this week after taking on the US National Anthem at the MLB All-Star Game.
However, unbeknown to viewers, the ‘I Bet’ belter was hit with a technical malfunction just before her big moment.
Details below…
Speaking to Access Hollywood ahead of this evening’s premiere of new video ‘Dance Like We’re Making Love,’ the 29-year-old revealed:
“For me it was such a great challenge; it was something I wanted to do for a long time. It was like me facing my fear that I’ve had since I was really young… I feel like you can never be fully prepared for performances like that — because basically right before it’s time to go live on TV my [mic] pack goes out.
My background singer — thank God for her — she tossed me her pack, but her levels were completely different than mine. And I’m like, I’m prepared for this, what are the chances that this happens right now? But I was like, you know what, this is something that I’ve always wanted to do, so I was like, ‘Let’s just go for it.’
So she tossed me her pack, you could probably see me moving so fast to put my pack back there. So I got out there and I go, ‘Wow, there’s so much delay.’ So I’m like, ‘Find your inner voice. Ignore the delays. Find your calm.’ And it was honestly the most exciting thing to be a part of, that I was like… the show must go on.”
