Soaring songbird Leona Lewis hit all the right notes when stopping by Chicago’s B96 radio this week.
The X Factor champion is presently stateside kicking off promotion for new single ‘Thunder’ and its parent album, ‘I Am’ – due September 11th via Island/Def Jam.
Giving the windy city a taste of the more soulful sound she’s moulded alongside hitmaker Toby Gad, Lewis took vocal flight with a rousing acoustic showing of ‘Thunder.’
Check it out after the jump…
A slightly more restrained vocal than we’re used to hearing from Ms. Lewis, but still packing more of a punch than the vast majority of her contemporaries. Solid showing.
This performance was way better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4mELp0rJJc
Her voice is so beautiful.
I am convinced Leonas lost her voice (:-(heartbroken ) lately she’s been giving the shittest vocals and she’s meant to be a premier voice , at the levels of Whitney /Marian / celine
And what is this s*** thunder song! It breaks my heart
interesting your name is Simon
i love leona and her voice is still beautiful and powerful….but i notice since this era started she sounded like she lost a bit of her range.
i love leona and her voice is still beautiful and powerful….but i notice since this era started she sounded like she lost a bit of her range! does anyone know if she had surgery on her vocals.
these are acoustic performances and Leona is holding back as she has to perform solidly over 2 weeks?
her voice is fragile and if she went all out it would go then her promotion would be over…love that she is doing these performances
BRAVO someone who understands what TRUE VOCALISTS have to do to preserve their vocals etc
This is a sweet song. It reference to her voice it sounds to me like she has been a little slack with her voice care and vocal exercises. Like all muscles the voice and breathing apparatus require exercise and rest to remain on point. It’s not enough to just sing a lot or rest a lot. She can still still, she’s just gotten a little complacent that’s all and it can be heard in te lack of diaphragm support when she tries to project and transition through her registers..
