Chart Check: Lana Del Rey Got ‘High’ On Hot 100…For A Limited Time

Simply put:  Lana Del Rey is was winning.

Courtesy of the warm reception to her latest “trap-pop” single ‘High By the Beach,’ the first release from her forthcoming LP ‘Honeymoon’ (Sept. 18), the singer-songwriter was greeted by a number of reasons to celebrate including:

  • 2nd highest debut of 2015 on the Hot 100
  • Her second top 10 single on the Hot 100
  • Highest debut of her career on the Hot 100
  • Highest first week sales of her career

Reported as moving an impressive 248,000 digital downloads its first week of release, the song’s accompanying music video would’ve also helped hoist it to top 10 glory with nearly 7 million streams in less than 5 days (as of time reporting).

But, just as Rey and team began popping bubbly to celebrate the aforementioned, Billboard retracted the stats with a crushing update that revealed her digital download numbers were barely a fourth of the originally touted figure.
