In an interview with Hot 97, Jidenna and his mentor Janelle Monae cleared up the rumours surrounding the myth above as it spreads online.
The former broke it down for those who were confused by it all.
Some of the people have said Iggy Azalea is getting paid off this record. I’ve seen that a lot. The truth is, we actually didn’t sample it. But ever since the decision of Robin Thicke and Pharrell, we believe that it was important to make sure that we are safe.
The rapper was referring to the legal battle between Thicke, Pharrell and the family of Marvin Gaye who successfully sued the ‘Blurred Lines’ pair for using the late singer’s music to build the controversial number.
