Can Iggy Azalea Make A Comeback?

Published: Monday 21st Sep 2015 by That Grape Juice - Staff

Flashback to the summer of 2014, one could not flip a channel without seeing the Australian bombshell that is Iggy Azalea. Now merely a year later, we see the ‘Fancy’ chart topper’s career in limbo. With a controversial start, Iggy Iggz has had a tough road despite all her success.

Is it too late for the Aussie Rapper?

At That Grape Juice, we feel there are some steps Ms. Azalea could take in order to revive her career.

Check them out below…

Studio. Studio. Studio

Iggy has been scrutinized for her lack of lyrical content and similar type music. If concerned with critical acclaim, it would benefit the rapper to create more songs like “Work” & “Walk the Line” opposed to songs like “Beg for It” & “Iggy Szn” which predominately make up her catalogue.

Work on stage Presence / Performance

Iggy’s performances have improved since her utter fail As seen below. (http://bit.ly/1I8wIEU). Moving in the direction of her SNL performance (http://bit.ly/1F9590J) will help to solidify her as an artist.

Lay Off The Surgery

We do not need another Lil Kim. Now, before the shade police set the sirens off, let us elaborate. The sad reality of the entertainment business is that women’s appearance is often dwelled on more than their talent or career output. A fact Lil Kim fans are all-too familiar with.

In recent months, Iggy’s “keep it real” agenda has seen her “open up” about her various new plastic surgery procedures. For her own sake, she’s better off keeping the focus away from anything that could take a turn down salacious street.

Re-launch Her Social Media Presence

Despite all her success, Iggy is a new artist whom listeners are still getting to know. While adjusting to constant criticism can be difficult, it is essential to stay connected with your supporters especially when you are fresh meat.

Scale Down The Tour

As many speculations have arisen as to the reasoning behind cancelling ‘The Great Escape Tour,’ we’re inclined to believe it is due to poor sales. Selling out smaller venues is more beneficial than having half an arena of empty seats. Right?!

*****************

Though her stock may have fallen, there is no denying that Iggy has been female’s rap most prominent star since Ms. Minaj. Boasting feats that many female rappers have yet to achieve (i.e. #1 singles, Grammy nominations, ect), there is still room for Iggy to regain her previous status. With rap contemporaries such as Tink, Dej Loaf, and Angel Haze at her coat tails, team Azalea needs to get with times sooner rather than later.
