Perseverance.
It’s a trait Leona Lewis clearly possesses.
The songbird, who is the most successful X Factor winner of all time, unfortunately hasn’t enjoyed similar success with her latest album ‘I Am.’
Released September 11th, the set charted at #38 on the Billboard 200 after selling 9,125 copies. On home soil in the UK, it didn’t fare much better – opening at #12 with first week numbers of 8,500.
Nonetheless, the promotional push continues and led Lewis to the ‘Late Late Show With James Corden’ last night where she performed current Stateside single ‘Thunder.’
Peep the performance below, as well as the singer’s take on her sales…
Speaking on her sales, she shared with her Instagram following:
It’s been a week that my album #IAM has been released and I wanted to write a little message to my buns to express how I feel.
Embarking on this album was an incredible land mark for me. Starting out independently without the backing of a majorwas a hard and long road. I had to strip back so many layers and let go of a lot of things and get UNCOMFORTABLE!
I had to dig deep and really come out of myself, push myself and break boundaries. Being somewhat of an introvert, I found it highly challenging and emotionally draining at times but I always new that it was for a bigger purpose.
I cannot tell you how proud this album makes me, and how personally liberated and peaceful I feel. I still have moments when i get nervous or anxious but I always come back to that place of inner freedom because I have allowed my true voice to sing loud and clear.
It’s not always about making a crater with a Big Bang, sometimes it’s the small and subtle marks that begin to tip the scale and eventually weigh in our favour.
So thank you all for being a part of this with me, my buns 4 life, I love you guys and I will always be open and true with you. I hope you’re having a beautiful Sunday and living your authentic life.
Love always
Leona xxx
