The Las Vegas arm of the Madame Tussauds family has announced that it is to redesign a wax figure erected in honour of the rapper Nicki Minaj.

The figure had been designed to replicate a “position” the entertainer posed in in the visual for her smash hit single ‘Anaconda.’
Alas, their decision to take inspiration from this video saw the company blasted by critics who accused them of belittling the star’s achievements by immortalising her on her hands and knees and cited the brutal exploitation of the black entertainer Saartjie Baartman as the root cause of their issue with it.
Now, after a number of visitors posed for obscene snaps with the wax figure Tussauds has revealed that it is to redesign the set around it to protect it from the lewd and the lowly.
Reports started popping up Wednesday (Sept. 9) that the controversial wax figure was slated for removal, but Kouvaris’ statement seems to reiterate plans announced last month to redesign the set around the wax figure.
On Aug. 18, the museum said it would install extra security around the statue due to an inappropriate fan photo and also mentioned new set-design plans. “We are taking immediate steps to ensure more staff are present in this area and that the set around this particular figure is redesigned so that a picture like this cannot be taken again.”

Why some compared the finished product to the exploitation of the aforementioned Baartman?
