New Beyonce Album To Drop This Year?

Published: Friday 23rd Oct 2015 by David

As Universal Music prepares to be thrown into the shadows by rival Sony Music and their leading lady Adele a new report suggests that the label may also be forced to deal with a new album from….Beyonce.

Speculation below…

UMG are reportedly on the cusp of releasing Rihanna‘s hotly anticipated set ‘ANTI’ in a matter of weeks and will no doubt have to tailor its campaign to take Adele‘s press and chart dominance return into consideration.

Now, a report by the reliable industry publication HITS Daily Double may be the first sign of a life in Sony’s reported plan to deliver a second blow to its rival by unleashing a new Beyonce LP this year.

How do the expected Q4 releases from Columbia’s Beyoncé, Roc Nation’s RihannaDef Jam’s Kanye WestParlophone’s Coldplay all with release dates TBD, fit into the picture? Beyoncé will debut at #1 no matter when her album drops, apart from 11/20; otherwise, Adele is a heavy favorite to hold the top spot through the rest of the year. There appear to be two or three windows—Dec. 4, 11 and possibly the 18th—and the prognosticators believe a first week of 300k could knock Adele off the top perch.

Considering their respective sales histories, Beyoncé and Coldplay have shown they can hit or surpass the magic number, while Rihanna’s previous five releases have averaged just under 200k, and Kanye’s track record is too erratic to make a call one way or the other. If Beyoncé’s album makes it this year, it will almost certainly crush the others, while Coldplay would outperform Rihanna and Kanye. And although Kanye is not hot record-wise, he should still outsell Rihanna, whose forthcoming album has no vibe yet.

Fans are already aware that Mrs. Carter has been studio-bound crafting an Urban-leaning follow up to 2013’s ‘Beyonce‘, but may not be aware that a quarter four release from her would mark the first time she’d go head to head with Rihanna.

The ladies’ personal business ties have seen them avoid album release dates that would see them clash, but that may soon change if ‘Yonce decides to keep with her tradition of freeing new music every two or three years.
