Grammys: 5 Artists With No Awards…Yet

Next Monday sees the nominations for the 2016 Grammy Awards announced!

The coveted honor is deemed as the Holy Grail for singers and performers alike. Garnering 57 years of prestige has not come without its fair share of controversy. While often difficult to find the rationale in the decisions behind who is nominated and ultimately given the award, it is clear that commercial success alone is not always enough.

After the jump, we outline a few of music’s top acts that are yet to obtain the coveted gramophone trophy.

Katy Perry
k5

The Katy Kat blazed on the scene in 2008, with her #1 single ‘I Kissed a Girl.’ Though boasting 9 number one singles, 5 of which came from one album, Ms. Perry would surely be a shoe in to receive music’s most esteemed award. Unfortunately for the ‘Dark Horse‘ maven her 13 nominations remain simply that. Is the competition just too fierce for the ‘roaring’ bell? Possibly, but Grammy or no Grammy, Rihanna’s BFF managed to be the highest paid female in music this year. You win some you lose some.

Nicki Minaj

n4

The self-proclaimed Queen of Rap has kicked down many doors for fellow female rappers, but has failed to snag an award many of her predecessors have (Queen Latifah, Lauryn, Missy, Kim, Eve). Onika currently reigns while having the most Billboard Hot 100 hits for a female rapper, as well as being the only female rapper to have two consecutive #1 albums. She also has won the BET award for Best Female Hip-Hop artist for the past six years. Though her loss of “Best New Artist” to Bon Ivor had many fans and critics in frenzy, maybe ‘The Pink Print’ will warrant some accolades of its own.

Justin Bieber

Love him or loathe him, The Biebs has had a lasting affect on Pop culture whether negatively or positively. Although the past few years have seen the star in the limelight for scandal rather than critical acclaim, this does squander the success that Justin has achieved. With five #1 albums, and a borderline frightening fan base, we would be surprised if the ‘What Do You Mean’ singer didn’t snag one of these awards in the near future.

J. Cole

The Fayetteville bred star has made quite the name for himself since first explaining ‘Who Dat’ really was. Though having the commercial success that many of his Rap contemporaries could only dream about, Cole remains one of many rappers that have yet to see their introduction change form “Grammy Nominated artist.” Cole has had three successive #1 albums, and is argued as one of the best in the game. Will 2016, be the year for the man with a ‘Crooked Smile?’ Only time will tell.

Jennifer Lopez

j-2

Lastly but surely not least, Jenny from the Block. As a triple threat that has been consistently building her brand over the past two decades, one would suspect that the Latin Queen would at least have a Grammy to her name. With 8 top 10 albums and four #1 singles, it is surprising that the media mogul has only managed to obtain TWO Grammy nominations. Yes, TWO nominations! Neither of which ultimately garnered her the coveted award. Interestingly enough, J.Lo has also only been nominated for 2 Latin Grammy awards. Say what folk will, Ms. Lopez is arguably one of the most seasoned overall entertainers we have today. If her recent showing at the American Music Awards is anything to go by, the ‘First Love,’ belle is not taking a seat anytime soon. At this point in her career, the hope for a Grammy may have been lost… but one can dream. Here’s hoping album #8 at least brings a nomination.

************

The arguments that stem from the reasoning behind these Grammy related decisions are endless, so we will leave them to your discretion. An award does not indicate talent nor validate ones worth, but to be fair it is icing on the career cake to be recognized for your contributions.

Here are a few notable artists that have never received a Grammy Award:

Diana Ross
Notorious B.I.G.
Tupac
Janelle Monae
Snoop Dogg
Janis Joplin
Nas

************

Interesting Fact: DJ Jazzy Jeff & Will Smith were the first artists to win a Rap Grammy Award in 1988.

Correction Beyoncé sung the words “You CAN SAY she’s the rap Queen” she didn’t say “SHES THE QUEEN OF RAP” only Nicki herself has Crowned herself the Queen of Rap! THE WORLD MUSIC AWARDS THE FIRST OF MANY TO CROWN BEYONCÉ “Queen of RNB and POP” didn’t know that do ur research ! Also Jay,Biggie,Aretha,DianaRoss,MJ,Elvis and etc the industry and people alike has CROWNED them as royals! Lil Kim herself was crowned Queen of HIPHOP by the industry and the most notable artist of yesterday today and tomorrow! Fall back nicki is SELF PROCLAIMED!

    • Navy Gravy December 2, 2015

I forgot to mention Jazmine. I have a really good feeling she’s gonna win this next ceremony!

You fans keep bringing her up, how come she’s not big, but Aldele is. Ummm, didn’t she just up and quit RIGHT AFTER her 2nd album over d***? And you guys wonder why no one buy into her or remember her?

      • Not important December 2, 2015

But she sold more than ciara–who had way more promotion than here and almost as much as tamar who is almost everywhere, after a five year hiatus. But it’s not even about the sales, her voice slays!!! And her music is real.

      • Faf December 2, 2015

Ciara on her 3rd album had a 90k debut week were comparing someone on year 7 to year 13

Jennifer Lopez can’t sing which is why she has zero Grammys to her name. I know the Grammys are a joke but there not a master comedian either.

    • Anne December 2, 2015

I agree! She tried her best to show some vocal talent at the AMA’S but her voice is just too weak. Holding one or two thin weak notes is not my idea of vocal talent.

  8. Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

There’s no excuse as to why Tupac doesn’t have a Grammy to his name. He’s to Hip Hop what MJ is to Pop.

    • RihYonce December 2, 2015

      Exactly now that’s a issue

    • King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

He’s not MJ of Hip Hop. MJ was on a whole other level of fame and success. Pac was one of the top rappers, but Biggie was right there, Nas was right there, LL was already an icon. Hip Hop doesn’t have a ONE and only superstar, there’s not king of hip hop, because SO many rapper brought some much to the genre. Hip Hop legend? Yes, but King? No.

      • Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

Oh please! Biggie is the Aaliyah of Hip Hop. He was more valuable dead than alive. Out of Nas, Big, and Tupac. Pac was the only one that had mainstream AND underground appeal. He was selling millions BEFORE his death. And is the most influential rapper is music history. Thats a documented fact! So you stand corrected, again.

      • Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

        *in

      • wait.. December 2, 2015

@Tyler the idea that tupac is the king is daft, yeah he had success and appeal but what about DJ Kool Herc (the guy who pioneered hip-hop), Grandmaster Flash and public enemy they are the ‘kings of hip-hop’

      • Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

They are all legends! I never denied that. NWA, Public Enemy, LL, and etc. All impacted Hip Hop CULTURALLY. But as an individual Tupac impacted people’s LIVES. He’s people’s hero’s. So much so, that to this very day you still see KIDS going hard for his music.

  9. Arianator Barb December 2, 2015

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the fact that Nas has never won a Grammy and Macklemore has 4 proves that the mean nothing. When he won those awards and Kendrick left empty handed they completely lost any and all validity. Anyway, I’m thinking about making an instagram, I tried and gave up on it back in 2013 but I’m thinking of giving it another shot, should I do it?

    • Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

*Claps Hands* You know what’s really funny? In 2013 when Macklemore won over Kendrick the Grammys were based on “sales” and that’s why Kendrick lost. Fast forward to 2014 Beyonce sells millions more than Beck, sets the trend for the surprise album phenom, and breaks record. But it’s then all of sudden “based on talent and playing 56 instruments”???? Its simple, they just don’t care about black music!

      • King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

Or the other artist you named wrote their music and Beyonce didn’t. How many writers were on Beyonce Vs Beck’s? Or even Wacklemore?

      • Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

        @Marsha
Oh!But not too long ago, you were talking about how “racially biased” music award shows were. Now, you are trying to come at me on some petty b*******? B****, get the f*** out of my reply section.

      • King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

I don’t recall saying that, but if you can post a link, go right ahead. BUT first, you want to answer my question? How many writers were on Beyonce Vs Beck and Wackie’s albums?

      • Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

F*** you b****! I hope you die tomorrow.

      • Alex December 2, 2015

As for the beck vs Beyoncé argument. The category was “Album of the Year”. Not song of the year, or songwriter of the year. Learn the difference. Beyoncé CLEARLY should have won. But even she is not IMMUNE to racism in the business. Think about this: Whitney, Natalie Cole, and Lauryn Hill are the only AFRICAN AMERICAN females that have won Album of the Year. But back to the subject, all of those listed artists were snubbed, with the exception of J LO. She’s just not iconic like some people think. She’s JUST a dancer. My opinion.

    • Carey Like Mariah December 2, 2015

Lol yes, please make an Instagram. If you make one I’ll make one too so that you can see how I actually look. ??

Also, maybe I’m buggin, but I really think K Michelle’s last album deserved a Grammy, as well as SWV’s.

      • Faf December 2, 2015

U may not like him but Macklemore addresses issues in his music

  10. RihYonce December 2, 2015

Coke definetly deserves one for “2014 Forest Hill Drive” that album was the best rap album of 2014 he’s so underrated, I find him better than Drake

  11. RihYonce December 2, 2015

Nas also deserved a Grammy during his time as well

  12. ?Queen Molly? December 2, 2015

Katy deserves one the most tbh she makes great POP MUSIC! Nicki deserves one for pink print it was an amazing album. The rest are blah.

  13. King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

Biggie lost his grammy to Will Smith as well for Best Rap Album. So like I said, the grammys never really catered to Hip Hop, strange because it’s the polar opposite with R&b and Pop. In short, the small awards will more than likey go the the more popular artist, but the main 5 will go to the underdog.

  14. Anne December 2, 2015

Diana Ross was given an honorary Grammy, guess that counts enough to eliminate her from the list of non-Grammy artists. Anyway all my living favorites have Grammy’s so I can’t complain but I am curious about this year’s nominees. All I know is if Taylor Swift wins AOTY I will be complaining for sure, the Grammys is not supposed to be about popularity or sales and that’s all 1989 has on the competition. It’s not even nomination worthy in my opinion. But, I’m expecting it to win so I may as well start complaining early.

  15. Barb-wire December 2, 2015

Nicki, Nas and Cole needs a Grammy stat… I can’t believe Nas Illmatic never received one for real.

    • King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

You know damn well Nicki should not be next to Cole and Nas on you list. Stop it.

      • Barb-wire December 2, 2015

So… Markeisha, will you be replying to everyone on this thread or nah? Sad and pathetic, I wish you’d spend less time in the closet trolling TGJ and more time doing something productive like getting a job for starters.

  16. Anne December 2, 2015

Oh yeah and J Low is not a snub in my opinion, Katy either. Neither are really Grammy worthy vocal wise or material wise.

    • Anne December 2, 2015

      Same goes for Bieber.

  17. King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

And you guys are looking at these artist careers and asking how come they don’t have a grammy, but you have to look at who they were up against in that cat. Sure J.Lo has a huge career, but she wasn’t winning anything in 2002 as long as there was a Alica Keys in that group. Britney was a HUGE star, and she only has one for best dance recording (whatever that is). Ciara has one for a Missy video (didn’t even know Grammys did video nods). Here’s the best of them all, MooRiha owned the 90’s, but only won 3 that whole decade and those were for her first album. So back then, winning a grammy meant something, because it was hard to get one, no matter how big you were. But now, music is so crappy, an artist can have 20 with Rihanna’s 2nd hand work. A vma holds more water than a grammy today. It’s NOT the Oscars of music, not in the past 15 years.

    • King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

And before the pest try with they boring, same ol crap, I’m talking about Jay Z and Kaney as well. Great artists, but I don’t now what music they have that is 20 grammys level.

  18. Ciah’s Turtle December 2, 2015

they had to show katy with a Kids Choice Award ? lmao shade. im sure she’s won more credible awards than that

  19. Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

Biggie couldn’t hold a candle to Pac. Like Aaliyah, he had to die to receive the level of success that his brand currently has. Hip Hop revolves around mainstream appeal and actual lyrical content. Real “Hip Hop Heads” can see the differences between artist like Public Enemy and NWA or Tupac and Lil Wayne, lyrical content isn’t the only thing that moves records but rather the whole package. Being a rapper cannot be confined into a certain box because its about being more than an exceptional lyricist. A good rapper, is someone who moves a massive amount to records. A good rapper must have the ability to connect with and hype up the crowd. Tupacs lyrics were good enough to have the general public and hard core Hip Hop fans hooked onto his music. And he is arguably one of the best MC’s to ever grace a mic. That’s is why Tupac is G.O.A.T.

    • King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

I’m will not talk Hip Hop with a f**. A good rapper, is someone who moves a massive amount to records? We’re done here.

  20. HailBeysus December 2, 2015

Lmao at all the lessers bitxhing about the grammys worth. They still matter amongst musical peers and the general public. Which is why an artist’s worth goes up after a grammy win. Not The Queens fault your favs can’t win more than 2 grammys in a nigh, but you know that ain’t none my bizz… (sips tea ?)

  24. S****** Blonde December 2, 2015

It’s really an honor not to have a Grammy these days, what can a Grammy add to the career of an artist like Diana Ross?, when someone like Beyoncé has already 20, no credibility at all.

    • Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

How so, white supremacist? Areatha Franklin has 18 Grammy’s, Alicia Keys has 15. They aren’t credible artist?

    • King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

  25. RealNegro December 2, 2015

I can see J. Cole getting a Grammy in the coming years.

    • King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

He don’t need one. Artist like Cole is bulding a very loyal and supportive fan base. That will win in the long run.

  26. MsYonce December 2, 2015

I bet you Taylor will snatch AOTY and more next year cause of her sales. Adele will always snatch in 2017 cause she will sell the most IDC IDC. They chose Beck over Beyonce, Ed sheeran and Sam Smith like please most people didn’t even know about that beck album it sold like 300k. Even if Beyonce didn’t win AOTY it shouldve went to Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran y’all know thiss. The Grammys are a joke now. Then they have the nerve to say its not about sales please watch and see next year..

    • King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

I’m not seething over it I’m telling the truth. I wouldn’t care if Sam and ed won it but Beck plz. ” Grammys is not a popularity contest” y’all will be singing different tune in 2017 when Adele snatch everything in sight and Anti is left in the dust☕

Are you saying the aforementioned deserved the AOTY award over Beck because they were very popular and sold more than 300k?

  27. Truth Hurts December 2, 2015

I looove Taylor, but the moment she won AOTY. it was a wrap, the grammys became the biggest joke, also Mariah’s vocals at her prime, it’s something that maybe we will never experience again, and they never awarded her until TEOM. There’s no credibility at all.

    • King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

MooMoo was watered down and way over exsposed in the 90’s. She was almost dropping an album every year. Riding that married man’s D worked tho, but in the 90’s, smoke and mirrors were not allowed

      • Truth Hurts December 2, 2015

LMAOOOOOOOOOOO, you’re so funny, a joke just like the grammys

    • JOHNVIDAL December 2, 2015

Yes I agree on that. Grammys suffered a decline throughout the 00s (just like mainstream music in general). But the worst year in history was when they gave Taylor Swift AOTY and that same year Single Ladies Best Song (only big awards for Beyonce btw), I think it was in 2009. After that they have not hit such extreme lows again, but something is not the same for me anymore either.
pd: They gave Mariah a grammy for best vocal performance for Vision of Love in 1991, apart from the obvious Best new artist that year.

  28. MsYonce December 2, 2015

I’m still surprise that most of Rihanna’s Grammys are from collaborations that should never be. The Grammys be nominating some people I’ve never heard of and snubbing the ones that had a great year. F***** up!!

Guess I’ll ask again since that pest ran from the question (they’re great at that). How many writers did it take to create Beyonce Vs Beck’s album? Adele’s? Taylor’s? I would love to get an answer.

    • Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

The opportunity question is, how many writers did it take to write RL8. Its been pushed back about three times now.

  35. Slay_Hive December 2, 2015

Instead of begging for an album release date, more uninspiring snippets, or just focus on the damn topic at hand, they would rather focus on Beyonce. Pressed or nah? lmaooo

You’re trying to play the high road card, yet you’re in the dirt. The subject: Artist with no grammys. Pest are still mad on AOTY winner Beck. So we’re on subject, but I have to ask, what does ANTi has to do with any of this other than for you to feel better because you’re… in the dirt. #FullCircle

LOL Those 5 people except for J. Cole are exactly the kind of artists who DON´T deserve a grammy! lol So it´s all good.
The old examples are more unfair, but at leats it is justified by the big competetion between talented artists from yesteryear.

Beyonce can perform tho. But you have to take an artist for what they are. There’s very few double threats and even fewer triple threats. Onky artist I know are triple threats is Janet, Beyonce, J.Lo and Aaliyah

I love how these lessers have to ALWAYS hide behind other artist to try and shade the Queen. They can’t stand next to their own because their favs couldn’t ever hold a candle to Bey’s career. First it Taylor for selling 1 million in a week. Then it was Adele for breaking records and selling albums like it the 90s and 80s! Now Beck because he wrote and produced his album all in his own hahahaha!!! How many writer’s and proders to it take Aaliyah to make an album that never sold tell death and received no grammys kiii!!! How many writers did it take to write Rihanna’s albums? How many producer’s did it take to produce Rihanna’s album? How many computers where featured on Rihanna’s album to produce them nocals???? Hahahahaha seeth bitxhes SEEETH!!!!

J lo has no classic songs. Which is y she performed other people shut at the AMAs as well

  42. Jewel December 2, 2015

Tbh this post just makes the Grammys look better. Besides J Cole of course, how exactly do any of these artists deserve Grammys. And those of you boo hooing that Gramys are not credible, need to open your eyes and look at the categories instead of just the number of Grammys people have. People like Mariah have less Grammys because they are nominated in much more competative categories. People like Beyonce deserve their grammys in the categories they win in. Nothing has changed about the Grammys over the years.

  43. I Luh Mariah December 2, 2015

But Tyler Biggie only released two albums prior to his death. His debut album went 5x platinum and his second album which was released a few months prior to his death ended up going diamond. You know nothing about hip hop. Tupac was more of a street poet while Biggie was a master storyteller. Biggie was the KING of east coast rap and Tupac was the KING of west coast rap. They were both trailblazers and your faves husband wanted to be him so bad.

    • Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

I said, what I said! Biggie sold more albums after than before death. That wasnt the case with Pac. He broke records, cultural barriers, was an amazing lyricist, and was the 1ST rapper n music history to ever score a DIAMOND ALBUM.
I stand by my statement. Pac is G.O.A.T I don’t care how you hating ass b****** feel about it.

      • I Luh Mariah December 2, 2015

Boo boo Pac’s album went diamond after he died just like Biggies did, with 5 million certified sales but Biggies actually sold 10 million. Everything you said about Pac can be said about Biggie.

        Ready To Die : 1994 – 4x platinum

        strictly For My N*****: 1993 – 1x platinum
Me Against The World : 1995 -3x platinum
Since you wanna talk about SALES boo

Stop denying Biggies impact like he was some lessor. They were both pioneers and are certified LEGENDSSSSS bye

      • Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

No! You cant say the same thing about Biggie. Because Pac actually has a Diamond album to his name.Haha and All Eyez On Me sold more records single handedly than Biggie ever sold his entire career.Tupac was big, Biggie was small. End of Story.

      • I Luh Mariah December 2, 2015

And biggie doesn’t have a diamond album? Life After Death says hello.

      • Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

Pac did it first! Like I said before, Tupac broke records, was a better lyrcist, and sold more records/albums.
        Tupac>Biggie

      • I Luh Mariah December 2, 2015

Lol! Ok. Stick to arguing with the Navy f*** about shallow popstars.

    • Royalkev December 2, 2015

Tupac was more of a street poet while Biggie was a master storyteller. Biggie was the KING of east coast rap and Tupac was the KING of west coast rap.

^ This. I have to agree with you on this point.

  44. .:: Centurion ::. December 2, 2015

Its gonna be J. Cole vs Kendrick Lamar in the Hip-Hop catagories @ the Grammys imo. Drake and Nicki’s popularity will eclipse their chances of winning.

    • I Luh Mariah December 2, 2015

Kendrick will most likely win his third Grammy. Drake will take a trophy or two home and Nicki will leave empty handed as usual.

  45. SippingmyTea December 2, 2015

Grammy’s should not be based on how many writers or how many producers you had. At the end of the day if the material was good and people enjoyed it you should win . My honest opinion I doubt Beck really did all the work on the album that they claimed he did. by the way does anyone know what happened to beck?! lol never really heard about them again.

    • King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

Beck been out since 2000 if not 90’s. Just because you can’t see any farther than the government housing campus doesn’t mean that Beck is lame or unknown. He even did a song with Aaliyah, but was never released. So Beck BEEN around.

    • SippingmyTea December 2, 2015

Babe. No need to get crazy I know Beck been making songs since the late 80s i am just saying before the grammys the media wasn’t talking about them and once he lost to beyonce and kanye went up on stage they hyped him up.All i am saying is what happened to the hype . This is my opinion i aint say this was factual.

      • King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

Hype? He was nom and WON the damn award. People like you are the same ones that think Kanye made Taylor Swift… AFTER she already won the award. One, no one ask for that fool to run up on stage, 2, like I said, just because you hoodrats don’t know these artist until your lil rapper makes a fool of himslef, doesn’t mean that the world didn’t know the, already. Bye.

      • SippingmyTea December 2, 2015

lol I know Kanye ain’t make Taylor Swift and why I gotta be a hoodrat. lmaooo God Bless.

      • King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

Well I take that back, but I will ask, have any of the pest listen to Beck’s album? Kanye didn’t and when he did he said it was a good album.

  46. I Luh Mariah December 2, 2015

There was far more competition in the 90s then now. That’s why Beyonce has racked up so many Grammys [in mainly urban categories]. Honestly who is gonna win outta Beyonce and artists like Fantasia (who I adore), Keri Hilson, Ciara, Ashanti and Monica? Mariah was up against giants like Whitney, Celine, Madonna, Toni, Alanis, Shania and Jewel.

  47. I Luh Mariah December 2, 2015

I don’t care what anyone says, every artist aspires to win at least one Grammy. It’s the highest musical honor.

    • HailBeysus December 2, 2015

Yup no lies spoken! Mariah may not have a gazillion grammys but she still won during her prime against Very stiff competition!

  48. Slay_Hive December 2, 2015

  49. HailBeysus December 2, 2015

DEATH @Markiesha now proclaiming DC being on featured tracks (which i don’t think their are any) as Beyonce’s featured tracks. I can’t with the Navy!!! Didn’t they get all worked up when Unbothered added DC sales to Beys catalog. But they want to add featured tracks that aren’t bey as a solo singer to her category to Make Rihanna seem less clingy lmfao!!! The Navy is desperate and stupid af!!!!

  50. King Mark111 /.\ December 2, 2015

I can’t and won’t argue with people that can’t read. Work on that GED and take your H I V meds.

  51. DIABETES UNBOTHERED December 2, 2015

Theres no less logic in me adding DC sales than MARK claiming Aliyah sold 30 million albums when DC sold more in the US by the time Ali died (15 million+) than Aliyah sold worldwide… Ali only sold 10 million with 3 albums when R&B was just as big or even bigger than POP in the 90s. Ali acomplished NOTHING GROUNDBREAKG Her entire career and not international at all… i guess thats why he stans for Rih in place of Ali.

  52. Rosie December 2, 2015

I will admit, when the GRAMMYs get it right they really do get it right (see: the Alternative Album category and some of the Rock fields; the Electronic/Dance categories since whenever they banned pop artists such as Britney/whoever) but it only seems like they get it right in these untelevised genre categories and not in the bigger genres like pop and R&B/Hip Hop, which are a joke each year. Hopefully they’ve learned their lesson and give AOTY to Kendrick instead of 1989 since that’s what’s it’s been really down to all year.

    • #JACKIE December 2, 2015

  57. Royalkev December 2, 2015

It’s interesting how people downplay Bey’s success from the oo’s, but are well aware that Beyonce was practically the stand-out superstar of that decade! Why wouldn’t she deserve her Grammy wins? “Single Ladies” was an huge anthem, bigger (as far as pop culture phenomenons go) than most songs that topped the Hot 100 for even longer. SL’s video’s iconic!!! It deserved to win the ‘Song of the Year’ Grammy! People use the catch phrase ‘Put a ring on it’ still til this day! Bey won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal (Female) with ‘Halo’, but that song doesn’t even touch SL! It’s not written somewhere that you must sing a ballad in order to earn a credible win in the major categories at the Grammys.

R&B wins are also very significant! It’s a genre like all the others. If an artist walked away with best Country/Rock/Jazz/etc AOTY, nobody would think to make a statement expressing that those awards doesn’t count. All this desperation to take away from what B’s accomplished only makes sour stans (filled with hate for B) appear more bitter!

    • Tyler Makiavelli December 2, 2015

She’s a glorified back up dancer with a mic. They dont hand out Grammys for that!

  60. King Stephy December 2, 2015

Diana Ross deserved at-least 5 Grammy’s. She didn’t even win 1. Despite, being the first global black female pop star. And, scoring like 5-6 global monster hits. The Supreme’s scored 12 #1’s in a row. She had so many great songs & cool performances. I will never get why she wasn’t awarded. Ahh-Well, at-least she got that pity “legends” honor Grammy. They gave that to her because they knew they were wrong… Diana had a brilliant career.
    —-
Madonna & Mariah should have over 20 Grammy’s (imo). These two women has the best catalog’s from females of the past 30 years. Consistently, they created EXCELLENT body’s of work. Madonna & Mariah were BRILLIANT studio artists. Their music will stand the test of time, and will be played long after their deaths.

  61. Real love December 2, 2015

Beyonce has two main category wins, one for “Best Pop vocal performance- Halo, and I think, Best Song- Singles ladies”. Having 20 Grammy’s is extraordinary, and everyone of them she deserved.

    • JOHNVIDAL December 3, 2015

That´s one main category. The main ones are AOTY, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best new Artist. She only has one, and she got it in the most laughable year for the grammys btw.

  62. DanYiel Iman December 3, 2015

  64. PINK HOT December 3, 2015
