Despite a solid reception from fans, Monica‘s newest album ‘Code Red’ hasn’t necessarily set the charts ablaze.
Opening at #27 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of 33k, the numbers came as a surprise to some, yet were expected by others.
For, on the one hand, it’s arguably on-par with the sales of many recent R&B LP’s. And, given the lack of push for lead single ‘Just Right For Me’ (the video for which arrived six months after its premiere), the project’s sales could even be considered…impressive.
However, for others, selling such numbers during the holidays (a traditionally kinder retail climate) is a no-no.
Nonetheless, the Grammy winner insists “New year, New era, New plan.”
And the first order of play for 2016 is the announcement of a second single. Which track is being prepped for the full roll-out? Find out below…

Easily “the” best song on the album, this is a smart play. One has to wonder, though, is it too little too late?

It’s never too late. it’s almost perfect because she can revamp and promote again once the single catches on. I hope she drops 5-7 singles this time. Fantasia too.
Her and Lil Wayne did a horrible job at promoting their single. No major award performances or Late night show performances. But the album was overall good, looking toward to the next single.

Code Red is such a great album, It’s so great to here Monica with a fresh R&B sound, I Love this track and many others on Cod Red and hopefully she continues to keep pushing it and releasing tracks

I love love love this album. I have been playing out to anyone who would listen. However, I think she should do one of the three singles.
1. Ocean of Tears
2. Deep
3. Love Ain’t Enough
All three are solid and repeat worthy. I think she would kill it with either of these hits. #GoGirl!

I’m here for it!! Bought the album! After alone in your heart, she needs to give anchor the single treatment, I think it’s that song that would remind people why she is still a force in r&b.

Monica did a takeover one night on Atlanta’s V-103 during the holidays. 1. She’s great as a DJ. 2. Ocean of Tears stood out to me.
I Know, All Men Lie, and Call My Name should all follow. Code Red was a great album and Monica was serving vocals!! It sucks our R&B girls can’t do half of Adele numbers, no shade.
