Before Wiz Khalifa was handed his track ‘See You Again‘ it was offered to his Hip-Hop peer Eminem.
Details below…
The Charlie Puth-penned cut was given to Khalifa who then penned verses for it and recorded it for the latest ‘Fast and Furious’ soundtrack.
Unfortunately, it has now emerged that Khalifa was only given the number because it had been rejected by the ‘Monster’ lyricist because of he was serving as the executive producer for ‘Fast’s rival movie ‘Southpaw‘s soundtrack.
50 Cent spilled the beans in a recent interview:
At the time we [Eminem and I] had to make a decision between doing that and the song for Fast & Furious. And that record [‘See You Again’] was a huge success for Wiz Khalifa and them. He decided to do Southpaw because he was invested in the project.
‘Again’ isn’t the first song to be rejected by another artist before becoming a hit for the artist it eventually becomes a hit for.
For, Miley Cyrus‘ ‘Wrecking Ball’ was reportedly penned with Beyonce in mind while the song ‘Baby One More Time’ was originally written for TLC and the Backstreet Boys who turned it down before it ended up in the capable hands of an artist named Britney Spears.
POOR WIZ BETTER MILK THIS, THE HOOD HAS NO LOVE FOR HIM. HE CORNY
Interesting!!! I think Eminem would’ve sounded better too!
Put Monica on the chorus.
just once, i want an artist to come foward and be like like “that song (blah), the one that redefined what it means to flop? Well i turned it down, thank god too, cause that would have been career ending”
Dumb Stan, delusional logic.
I can hear T-boz singing Baby One More Time….but it fit Britney’s image better.
The song would have been better off without either of them on it. The original track more than shines on its own.
There are alot of songs that people penned for other artist or written for other artists original then turn it down And nice of wiz k.
