Rihanna‘s unique rollout for her new album ‘ANTI‘ may have impressed her fan base, but it now seems that the same cannot be said for the powers that be over at the British Phonographic Industry.
Bad news below…
Released before Beyonce is set to return with her new studio set, ‘ANTI’ is yet to appear on any major music retailers because it is being used to pull music lovers into Jay Z’s Tidal music streaming service.
However, yesterday saw the ‘Work‘ singer find a way around this predicament by sharing a link on Twitter which directed her followers to the release…where they could spin it…for free.
Today, as some critics suggest this was done to soften the blow of a commercial failure should the album tank, the BPI has revealed that they have been forced to exclude it from its chart system because it refuses to acknowledge numbers “pulled in” by free downloads.
A spokesperson for the Official Charts UK told Daily Star Online:
Free downloads don’t count towards the Official Chart, meaning ANTi currently won’t be eligible for the Official Albums Chart.
It has not yet been announced when ANTi will be available to download and stream on other services, including iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify.
The star’s move will now see her take on the task of keeping the hype around the project high enough to ensure she doesn’t sink when it is released to music retailers.
She tried to avoid the pressure of selling in the first week but has bitten herself in the b***. All this because she can’t sell over 200k after ten years.

If it all boils down to Samsung paying her for an album, this could be really revolutionary for artists. I pay you to record an album, Don’t worry about the back end, release it under our promotion. The payout could be that much better in the long run.

So LB accepts that if she was given 25 million it was for an endorsement deal and not because they think they can make 25 million back from a Rihanna album. Good, because anyone who thinks that 25 mill protects her from flopping should really have their brains checked.
Samsung is not in the music business, they are in the business of selling phones. If they pay anybody money to record an album, it is to sell their products.

You all have to remember, Tidal’s whole campaign has been about “Putting the artist first” this could be step 1 in the process. Making sure the artists capitalizes in a way they have not before. Artists dont make money off album sales. This Samsung deal could change that forever.
Samsung is an $11.5 BILLION corporation. $25 mil, though not cheap, is not a scratch off their backs. This was a strategic move on both ends.

The Navy is the epitome of DELUSIONAL. If this was the master plan from the beginning why not just drop it after BBHM last year the same way? Why scrap the previous singles and try and create a whole different identity for an album? Because they were reaching for straws and trying to salvage this messy era and this was the best they came up with. That 25 million dollar deal doesn’t mean ish if she is spending it all out to cover all of her expenses. Do you have any idea how much to cost to fund a world tour, paying writers,production companies,film videos ect. A LOT which is why it’s important to make a turn around from their projects. I’m proud of Rih for changing her sound & lowkey taking the SELFTITLED route and not doing the whole uptempo trendy songs and really experimenting with her music but just completely deleting all of the singles last year from the album & changing the entire direction for the album in a matter of weeks was very messy. But you guys have to admit this album was good. Idk How her Trendy urban audience is going to receive this but I hope she pulls out the big guns for this album

There are vocal powerhouse pop stars, who dominate with the sheer magnitude of their gift; kaleidoscopically vivid pop stars, who dazzle with enthusiasm and energy; diligent pop stars, who chip away at success until they strike oil; cheeky pop stars, who understand the absurdity of the situation but manage to convincingly stay the course.
And there is Rihanna, who is not quite any of these things.
That deficit has not proved to be much of an obstacle. More than three years have passed since the release of her last album, and she is perhaps more famous than ever, a star of fashion, social media and tabloids who sometimes, y’know, makes music or whatever.
And while she has just released “Anti” (Roc Nation),her eighth album, that peculiar state of affairs is unlikely to change. “Anti” is a chaotic and scattershot album, not the product of a committed artistic vision, or even an appealingly freeform aesthetic, but rather an amalgam of approaches, tones, styles and moods. Depending on the moment, she is an electric vocalist or an indifferent one, an emotional savant or a naif, a singer who understands what her voice is best at and one who sounds like she’s merely following directions.
Rihanna has always shined when at her most assertive, like on “Needed Me,” one of this album’s highlights. Over a pulpy, throbbing beat by DJ Mustard, Rihanna sings about using men for s** and disposing of them like tissues: “Trying to fix your inner issues with a bad b****/Didn’t they tell you that I was a savage?” If she were sweating at all, it would come off as a scold, but her singing is reserved and cool —she’s letting a poor sap down and practically has her back turned.
She succeeds at this end of the spectrum, and also the other, like on “Work,” the single released Wednesday morning. A pop-dancehall number that’s all bubble and no depth, it’s cheaply effective. In places, she barely even relies on words, truncating her syllables past patois to something far less exact
Screaming “All bubble and no depth” pretty much says it all. But her fans are basic to the gods so it makes sense.
Damnn they went in on her ass.
I love the album tho.
With lack of cohesiveness and vocal mastery showcase, songs like “Close to you” “James Joint” “Consideration” “Kiss it better” and my personal favorite “Same ol mistakes” keep the album afloat. Not her best Album but its good. I like the electic feel of it. The vocals on “Higher” and “Brain love” are so bad that they ruined what could have been a great album. “Woo” is atrocious. “Yeah i said it” is smooth, “Needed me” and “Work” will slay the clubs.
Same ole mistakes is my fave as well! The rest is painful imo.
She once again copied Bey’s blueprint as she has been since coming on the scene. The commercial type promo videos, dropping 3 singles and didn’t incl them on the album but putting 3 new on a deluxe edition of this copper special and the funniest is now she wants to be called “Queen” and keeps pushing these crowns. You gotta earn it with talent Ma. Go smoke some more..

Rihanna win in every way part over of tidal, the album is on her label she own the masters to all her music and Samsung give her $25 million for the album and tour sponsorship. Tell me how is this not a win? Adel sold a lot,but Colombia owns the masters Colombia get most if the sales money and unlike Rihanna Adel will be at the mercy of Colombia years from now. Adel shows ask to redo her contract now that she’s hot and gain control of her masters.

Y’all are dumb as fvck. The point of the title ANTI is to go against the grain every single way. Not only did she revolutionize the way music is disseminated, as she used a tech giant to pay for it, she gave it out for free for the sole purpose to say fvck numbers.
Kiss It Better is the standout track on the album. Why they went with Work as a single I will never know. The album isn’t bad. If you really sit and listen to the lyrics, it’s pretty cohesive. She’s proclaiming control and independence in most of the songs whether it be in a relationship, s** or her career. I get it. As for the amount of tracks, anything over 15 is overkill IMO. 13 is perfect. Is it a masterpiece? Not at all, solid? Yes.
Since it was sponsored, she can do whatever she wants I guess? Anyways, goodluck tho.
They did bump it or dump it on the radio for anti and every single person said bump it. Even straight guys were calling in. Mind you this is urban radio ?
