Live Nation Chairman Hails Beyonce’s Blockbuster Stadium Sell-Outs

Published: Monday 22nd Feb 2016 by Sam

How many crowns can Beyonce fit on at once?

Queen of the charts. Queen of the stage. And now Queen of the stadium.

The superstar’s ‘Formation World Tour’ is blowing up box offices across the globe – so much so that multiple dates have been added to the stadium-only jaunt.

Naturally, the early success of the trek has plastered a grin on the face of sponsor Live Nation.

Speaking to Billboard, the company’s chairman of Global Touring Arthur Fogel had much to say about the hottest ticket of the summer.

For Fogel, ‘Formation’s sales (now that all of America and half of European dates are on sale) are “beyond fantastic.”

A perusal of this helps highlight why:

Formation has already sold out two New York shows (June 7-8 at Citi Field), two London show (July 203 at Wembley Stadium), and just added a second Chicago night (May 27-28 at Soldier Field). Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Boston, San Diego, Miami, Baltimore, Atlanta, Houston, and Santa Clara, Calif., are all clean, and others are headed that way.

Even Nashville’s Nissan Stadium date May 5, which went on sale to the general public this morning amid the local police union’s call for a boycott due to a perceived anti-police message in Beyonce’s performance at Super Bowl 50, is strong out of the box, with sales standing at over 33,000 for a gross of $4 million.

Overall, the 39-date tour, which begins April 27 at Marlins Field in Miami, has already taken in over $100 million in ticket sales, with Beyonce inevitably headed toward a sold-out run and one of the hottest tours of 2016. [Source]

To put this into context, Taylor Swift bested all touring talent last year when her ‘1989’ trek brought in a whopping $250 million gross and 2.3 million attendance to 83 shows. Yet, she crucially did not play stadiums exclusively. Thus rendering Bey’s trek likely to top this.

In setting sail on the extravaganza, the 34-year-old joins an elite list of acts hitting the stadium trail this year  – with comrades Coldplay and Rolling Stones serving as the only others.

More power to her!
