After dramatically dropping out of The Weeknd‘s performance at Monday’s night’s Grammys, Lauryn Hill teamed with the rising star on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.’

Together, the pair tackled ‘In The Night’ which appears on the Canadian singer’s award winning album ‘Beauty Behind The Madness.’

Given that The Weeknd’s tone is an acquired taste, there was always going to be a fair amount of struggle vocally. And boy was there. Abel sounded like a lamb and Lauryn, though ions better, wasn’t without issue. At points, it was plastered all over her face that things were not sounding fresh.

Put simply, this pairing should be promptly filed under “Unnecessary.”
