Alicia Keys is on the comeback trail.
Having seeded news of her return last week, the 15-time Grammy winner staged an intimate show in New York City last night to preview material from the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Girl On Fire.’
Though the title for the LP was kept under wraps, Keys did reveal that it’s currently set for a Fall release.
Further details await below…
Staged at the Highline Ballroom, the Manhattan show saw the songbird deliver a 45-minute set comprised of classic cuts such as ‘Fallin” as well as the fresh numbers the world is waiting for.
Sources close to That Grape Juice confirm that the mother-of-two performed six songs from the new project.
Interestingly, she drew a direct line to her debut, ‘Songs In A Minor,’ describing her next collection as a prequel to the 2001 effort.
In creating such lofty expectations, Keys was tasked with ensuring the material connected. And, per our source, not only does it plug in effortlessly – it exceeded expectations.
Rooted heavily in Hip-Hop, many of the songs – which boast titles such as ‘Hallelujah,’ ‘Pawn It All,’ and ‘Bliss’ – were deemed “hard-hitting.” Keys even raps on one. Elsewhere, Dance-Electronica track ‘In Common’ sent the crowd into a frenzy.

It’s a given that Alicia has everything to prove this go round after the tepid response to ‘Fire’. At this junction, though, it finally seems as though she’ll be bringing the real spark this go round.
