In an interesting move, the singer has chosen to make each of the LP’s songs available stand-alone. A practice which is commonplace for her contemporaries, yet one she shunned with her 2013 self titled set.

The decision is having a profound effect on taster track ‘Formation,’ which was – upon its February release – never made available for purchase and instead given away for free on TIDAL.

As at writing, the fiery track now sits at #4 on US iTunes. A number which would easily be higher if not for the influx of Prince songs populating the top 10. It’s also enjoying similar success in the UK.

Say what folk will about Bey, but there’s no denying the enduring buzz that surrounds any and everything she does.

In premiering a full body of work yet allowing the songs to be bought separately, it’s clear Team Bey will hone in on whichever catch on most and proceed from there.

It’s a smart move and one only a select class of acts are privileged to be able to make.

As at writing, (beyond ‘Formation’) the cuts ‘Sorry’ and ‘Hold Up’ are smashing most worldwide. And though ‘Freedom,’ ‘Sandcastles’ and ‘Daddy Lessons’ resonate most for yours truly, it’s undoubtedly most logical to go where the momentum blows.

Stay tuned for the net’s most thorough coverage of Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’!
